  12. have we ever looked at statistics for a persons 21 birthday. For the most part that is when ppl tend to go crazy and drink heavier.

  13. This is actually good...i think this is what we had looked at briefly while we were in class on Thursday (Tania)...anyone who can look at this this is a good foundation because it talks about the influence that other binge drinkers have on their roommates...in this case in the dorm setting.

  14. Here is one of the articles I have found, that 80% of young people who go to bars are underage

  17. if we can find something that would support this, this would possibly be a part of the campaign (i am talking about the 21 yr old approach) If someone wants to look at any studies that have been done on this and programs that have been developed to curb this type of activity...that would be great....I was thinking that a program of this nature would work well with the facebook and myspace birthday reminders...maybe not just on 21 year olds but on every birthday....perhaps an emphasis on 21st birthday!

  18. it says 83 percent drank on their 21st b-day

  19. Tania....is this in the Northwestern study? If so what page and does it reference them recognizing it as binge drinking?

  22. Also I will be keeping track of the pages posted on the blog that way we can compile the references and give them to everyone for further research and info.

  23. Also while we are on the subject of sharing information...when can people get together again so we can make decisions based on our findings and also layout the questions for the survey and make plans for the focus group.

    ReplyDelete
  24. on page 12 of that PDF is list the references, it also has a survey conducted by the universities about how they room people in the dorms. How does asking for a specific roommate, whether they drink or don't drink influences a person. I dont think it is the same one from Thursday. Maybe another study conducted over the years. It's present though.

  33. ay jenny...shut up

  34. a lot of this stuff is good information...if we could find a specific study with a good sample showing the prevalence of teen binge-drinking that would help to justify the expansion of our target market. The sites posted all say that parents are a critical part of the children's lives and can have a major inlfluence and the sites Al posted talk about how binge drinking does occur at younger ages, but I am having trouble finding the sources of this information on the web page..please send these links if you can (the links to the actual study where the information was retrieved or is based on)

  37. For know there is a lot of info to sift through but it looks as if there are some decisions to be made as far as expandng the target market....we still need to find some specific info on the how does your life stack up and possibly look at the pros and cons of using a social norms campaign because I have been finding some stuff related to it that talks about Social Norms campaigns not being as successful?????
